This week we asked Gosia Grant to feature in our ‘meet the supplier’ blog! Gosia Grant is our lovely Sussex based wedding photographer and we just LOVE her style!

When did your love of photography start?

It all started when I bought my first digital SLR in 2007 to preserve the memories of my travels. I photographed everything from the breathtaking scenery, fabulous people, to mouth watering food – all of those unforgettable moments were captured on hundreds of thousands of images. Each tells it’s own, unique story reminding me of the smell, the taste, the vibe of the place and how it felt to be there.
Photography quickly become not only my hobby but also a real passion driving me to hone my skills and go professional. Needless to say my camera never leaves my side, be it on land or underwater.

What is it about weddings you love?

Weddings for me are all about intimate moments between the bride, groom and their guests. I get to capture all sorts of emotions; anticipation, tears, laughter and fun! I want to tell couple’s story so that they can look back and relive it, time and time again.

Do you have a favourite venue that you like to work with?

I loved working with the team from Jeremy’s restaurant in Cuckfield. They made me so welcome and really looked after me. Starting from keeping me hydrated on a very hot day finishing with serving me an insanely delicious meal! What more could I want?!

How do you make couples feel relaxed on their big day?

I am outgoing and spontaneous, ready for anything! I try to blend in and become a part of the wedding. I don’t want to distract from the day – I want to be in the middle of it all getting those candid, intimate shots.
I tell my couples that they should immerse themselves in the moment and let me worry about location, lighting, exposure and all of that! It’s my job as a Wedding Photographer to make sure they look good in their wedding pictures!
The energy of the day really rubs off and I can’t help but have fun with everyone!

What style of photography do you use?

I am a documentary wedding photographer, I shoot in a reportage style. What this means is that there is no forced posing – I capture the events as they naturally unfold.

If you could work with any photographer who would it be?

This is the hardest question! I am very fortunate though as one of my dreams has come true! A couple of weeks ago I found out I had won the 20 Collective Mentoring Scholarship.
The 20 Collective is a group of incredibly talented wedding photographers based in the UK who offer their time and expertise to support the program.
I was spoilt for choice and in the end I chose Adam Johnson as I really like his style and I am looking forward to hearing more about his passion for light, colour and magic of course! 🙂

How do you prepare for a wedding shoot?

The preparation starts from the moment the booking is taken. I start with a catch up over coffee to discuss the couple’s requirements and get a feel for the kind of wedding they are having. I also find out the two most important pieces of information – the date and location! This allows me to scope out the venue, find the best places for photographs and come up with ideas on how to make their images truly unique!
