Choosing a wedding venue is sure to be one of your biggest decisions to make when planning your wedding….after the dress of course! But before you even start the search you need to have a clear idea about what you are looking for! Do you want a small and intimate setting, or have you had dreams of a huge extravagant fairytale wedding…….we have put together a few tips to help you with your search!

1. Location

To start with where do you want to get married? Are you looking to stay in your home town, or something a bit further afield. Once you have decided on the location you will be able to create a list of all the wedding venues in the area.

2. Do you want your wedding all under one roof?

If you are looking for a church or registry office wedding ceremony then this may give you more options for your wedding reception.  An important point to remember is that not all venues are licensed to hold civil marriage ceremonies. If you have your heart set on a wedding under one roof then barn weddings are perfect, they are also more likely to have an exclusive use option.

3. What is your budget?

Be realistic with your budget, are you prepared to pay for an exclusive venue? If you are looking for a large wedding with lots of guests, entertainment and styling you may have to.  Or are you happy to hire a room or area in a venue for your big day and opt for a smaller wedding.  Remember that this is meant to be the happiest day of your lives, it doesn’t need to cost you the deposit of a house for it to be special.

4. How many guests will you be having?

This is another good point to remember, check your preferred venues seating capacity for both the ceremony and reception. Normally you will be allowed extra guests to join you in the evening, make sure to find out how many you can allow for.

5. Catering & Bars

Some venues can cater for all your needs, including the catering and bar, other venues you will have to organise this yourself. Hotels will have all of the catering and drinks covered, but a barn wedding may need outside caterers and bars.

Once you have decided on a selection of venues the next step is to book a viewing and find out if your date is available! Have fun and remember that we are here to help if you may need some advise or help with planning your big day!

Good luck x
